In the midseason finale of The Flash, viewers were confronted with the startling revelation that Barry and Nora’s daughter Nora, the speedster from the future dubbed XS, has been working alongside Eobard Thawne, also known in the year 2049 as the Reverse Flash. He apparently struck a deal with Nora in which she would get to see the father she never knew, but we’ve yet to see what Thawne gets out of the bargain.

In the extended trailer for the Jan. 15 midseason premiere, "The Flash and the Furious," Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) are shown spending for time together. However, the bonding is cut short by an attack by the Weather Witch (Reina Hardesty) and the new metahuman Silver Ghost (Gabrielle Walsh), who can control engines and other motorized technology.

Their battle with this villainous team-up will be intersected by the threat of Season 5 primary antagonist Cicada (Chris Klein). Despite Team Flash learning the identity and motivation of Orlin Dwyer, they have been unable to stop his murderous crusade against metahumans. In the episode, his actions will take a physical toll on Nora and an emotional one on Barry, whose anger threatens to take overrule his judgment. Despite the advice of friends and family, the promo teases a confrontation in which Barry will struggle not to become like Dwyer .

While Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) grapples with the revelation that Thawne (Tom Cavanagh) killed her grandmother, Team Flash must stop the formidable team up of a newly sprung from jail Weather Witch (Guest Star Reina Hardesty) and Silver Fox ( Guest Star Gabrielle Walsh), a new meta tech villain who can control engines and motorized technology. Meanwhile, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) discuss creating a metahuman cure.

Returning Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanaugh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet, Hartley Sawyer and Jessica Parker Kennedy.
