The classic manga/anime series Fist of the North Star is coming to the PlayStation 4 this October.

Announced by Sega today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise has received a new trailer showcasing the lightning fast, hard-hitting gameplay in line with the original source material. The video game adaptation is developed by same team as the popular PlayStation brawler series Yakuza and features similar combo-based third-person combat.

Based on writer Buronson and artist Tetsuo Hara's popular manga, Fist of the North Star follows martial artist Kenshiro as he navigates the post-apocalyptic ruins of the old world to dole out loads of bloody, bloody justice. The manga has been adapted into two popular anime series and several animated films, as Kenshiro employs the ancient martial art of Hokuto Shinken to target his enemies' vital points to deliriously gory effect.

Judging by the trailer, Lost Paradise will not shy away from the graphic violence of its source material.

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise was originally released in Japan on March 8 as Hokuto ga Gotoku (Roughly translated as Like a North Star). The game follows Kenshiro as he arrives at the mysterious city of Eden to find his long-lost fiancee Yuria with gangs of wasteland-roving marauders standing in his way.

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise is scheduled to be released in North America and Europe on PlayStation 4 on October 2.
