First Trailer for Jodie Foster-Directed 'Money Monster,' Starring George Clooney

Geroge Clooney stars as a Jim Cramer-esque televised stock advisor in the first trailer trailer for "Money Monster" from TriStar Pictures.

Directed by Oscar-winner Jodie Foster, "Money Monster" is a real-time thriller that follows Clooney's Lee Gates, who's held up in the studio where his show airs -- along with his producer, played by Julia Roberts -- by an armed man that followed Gates' advice (Jack O'Connell), but ended up penniless.

Here's the official plot summary for "Money Monster," courtesy of Sony:

In the taut and tense thriller Money Monster, Lee Gates (George Clooney) is a bombastic TV personality whose popular financial network show has made him the money wiz of Wall Street. But after he hawks a high tech stock that mysteriously crashes, an irate investor (Jack O'Connell) takes Gates, his crew, and his ace producer Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) hostage live on air. Unfolding in real time, Gates and Fenn must find a way to keep themselves alive while simultaneously uncovering the truth behind a tangle of big money lies.

Written by Jamie Linden, Alan DiFiore & Jim Kouf, "Money Monster" also stars Dominic West, Giancarlo Esposito and Caitriona Balfe. The film will release in theatres on May 13, 2016.
