First Photo from NBC's "Constantine" Remains True to Comics Character

Earlier this week, Executive Producer/Writer David S. Goyer discussed the in-production pilot for NBC's "Constantine," assuring fans that unlike the Keanu Reeves big screen take on the character and his mythos, the television show will hew much closer to the Hellblazer's comic roots.

Goyer: NBC's "Constantine" "Clings More Closely to the Source Material"

Last night, the first photo showing star Matt Ryan in character backs up Goyer's statements.

The photo, originating on the Slates for Sarah Facebook page (it has since been removed) shows the crew from the upcoming pilot, along with Ryan, decked out in John Constantine's signature trenchcoat, white shirt and skinny tie, his hair and stubble suitably disheveled, a slight smirk on his face.

And for those noticing a distinct lack of Constantine's signature Silk Cut, Goyer said it's a "tricky" proposition to bring cigarettes to network television, but sign off on them. Goyer also stated that one more actor -- beyond Ryan and supporting actors Harold Perrineau, Charles Halford and Lucy Griffiths -- has yet to be announced as a character making the leap from the comics to the small screen.
