DC Comics Co-Publisher Jim Lee has been promising a return to his interior art roots ever since he stepped into the new job, but aside from getting the rechristened "Dark Knight: Boy Wonder" back on track, the superstar artist also seems to be lending his pencils to DC covers wherever he can. Today, DC released via their official blog The Source the first of what promises to be a series of Legionnaire spotlight covers to Paul Levitz and Yildiray Cinar's "Legion of Super-Heroes" relaunch.

As "Legion" editor Brian Cunningham explained: "Jim's schedule is kinda busy, to say the least, but his love of the Legion ultimately prevailed! Jim's idea for these variants is to spotlight a Legionnaire from a different era. The first cover - Saturn Girl in her 1970s outfit designed by the late, great Dave Cockrum - is sexy as all get-out! I'm not sure who will be on #2's variant yet - I'm secretly hoping it's Matter-Eater Lad, but whoever Jim wants to draw is fine by me!"
