The official start date of PlayStation Network's adaptation of "Powers" may not be set just yet, but promotional material continues to release in anticipation of the live-action series' debut. Entertainment Weekly has posted a first look at actress Michelle Forbes in complete uniform as Retro Girl. According to EW.com, the character has a "cool, hard exterior with a fire right below the surface. Retro Girl is the undisputed super star of the Powers community. An icon of justice, selflessness, and business acumen. Her willingness to put herself at risk for the good of others is matched only by her ability to manage her globe-spanning personal brand."
A big part of the upcoming series will be influenced by "Powers" artist Michael Avon Oeming's artwork, according to series co-creator Brian Michael Bendis -- especially as relates to Retro Girl.
"[Showrunner] Charlie [Huston] was very smart to find ways to include Mike's art work in the body of the show; from water bottles, to playing cards, to t-shirts, to posters," Bendis told CBR in November. "You find out that Retro Girl's entire fortune was built on this look, the look of the Mike Oeming artwork. There's a cartoon that's been on for like 30 years. It never really went off like 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.' So Retro Girl's message merchandise is all in Mike Oeming's style. You see his work everywhere in the show."
