Lucasfilm has announced that George Lucas' animated film Strange Magic will arrive Jan. 23, courtesy of Disney's Touchstone pictures.

Inspired by William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, the fairy-tale musical uses popular songs from the past six decades to help tell the story of a cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their misadventure sparked by a battle over a powerful love potion.

Featuring a story by Lucas, Strange Magic is directed by Gary Rydstrom (Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation) from a screenplay by David Berenbaum (Elf), Irene Mecchi (Brave) and Rydstrom.

The voice cast includes Alan Cumming, Evan Rachel Wood, Kristin Chenoweth, Maya Rudolph, Sam Palladio, Meredith Anne Bull, Alfred Molina, Elijah Kelley, Bob Einstein and Peter Stormare.
