The moment many Fantastic Four fans have been waiting for -- or possibly dreading -- is finally here, as Empire has unveiled the first official look at Jamie Bell as the ever-lovin', blue-eyed Thing in director Josh Trank's franchise reboot.

The image arrives with two others that, frankly, will draw far less interest: one of the team in containment suits, and the other of Miles Teller's Reed Richards presumably undergoing testing.

As Empire notes, technology has advanced dramatically since 2005's "Fantastic Four" and its 2007 sequel "Rise of the Silver Surfer," in which actor Michael Chiklis was burdened with a bulky, hot and not entirely convincing costume (he likened the experience to "the seventh circle of hell"). In the franchise reboot, Bell donned a motion-capture suit, allowing him more freedom to act.

Also starring Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Toby Kebbell, "Fantastic Four" opens Aug. 7.
