Japanese publisher Kodansha has released the first full-color image from its “Avengers: Age of Ultron” one-shot prequel, which arrived today in stores across Japan.

The manga is part of this week’s issue of “Shonen Magazine,” and was illustrated by “Ixion Saga” artist YÅ«saku Komiyama. The issue described the story as follows (translation via Anime News Network):

According to Japanese news site Comic Natalie, the story details the origins of the Ultron Project, providing details that has not been revealed anywhere else.

Disney films “Tangled,” “Wall-E”and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” have received manga one-shots to help promote their release in Japan. The entertainment giant expanded on that approach last year with a serialized story based on “Big Hero 6.”

“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which opened May 1 in North America, has grossed about $1.4 billion worldwide.
