Though we've met the various members of DC Universe's live-action Doom Patrol through various posters, intro videos and a surreal family photo shoot, the series' villain has remained under wraps. The new teaser trailer for the series rectifies that, however, showing us Alan Tudyk's Mr. Nobody in all of his, well, weird as hell glory.
Not only do we see Tudyk's villain for the first time, it sounds as though he's providing the teaser's voiceover meta-narrative, sarcastically stating, "More TV superheroes. Just what the world needs," punctuated with a disgusted, "Ugh."
A spinoff of the streaming service's highly successful Titans, Doom Patrol centers on a group of misfits -- Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man (Matt Bomer), Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane -- who have been granted superhuman abilities as a result of horrible accidents. Brought together by the scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (Timothy Dalton), aka The Chief, they're called into action by Cyborg.
The Doom Patrol recently returned to the comics thanks to DC's Young Animal imprint in a comic written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Nick Derington. The offbeat superteam also appeared in the final season of the animated Teen Titans series where they helped Beast Boy and the other Titans fight the Brotherhood of Evil.
Doom Patrol, starring Timothy Dalton as The Chief, Brendan Fraser as Robot Man, Joivan Wade as Cyborg, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody and Matt Bomer as Negative Man, is scheduled to premiere on DC Universe on Feb. 15.
