Firefly fans will be able to learn about their favorite Serenity pilot in a new graphic novel which, as revealed by BOOM! Studios, will unveil the life of Wash.

Through a press release, the comics publisher announced the graphic novel, titled Firefly: Watch How I Soar. It will follow Hoban "Wash" Washburne's life from his early days up until his time on Serenity and afterward. The novel is a collaboration between the company and its partner 20th Century Fox, which owns the rights to the Firefly franchise.

The stories will be partly told through a series of flashbacks highlighting important moments from his life. Executive Editor Jeanine Schafer stated, "From the moment we first met him playing with his toy dinosaurs, Wash has been one of the most beloved members of the Firefly crew," adding, "Watch How I Soar gives us everything we ever wanted to know about our favorite hotshot pilot and space husband." She then continued, "We're excited to explore this new ground that fans have been asking us to cover."

Despite lasting only one season, Firefly spawned a media franchise including a feature film, two comics series, novels and a role-playing game.

The graphic novel will be written by Nanjing: The Burning City's Ethan Young with artwork by Middlewest artist Jorge Corona. The cover art has been done by Miguel Mercado.

Firefly: Watch How I Soar is set to debut in November 2020 through comics retailers, BOOM! web store and mobile apps such as comiXology, iBooks and Google Play. A fixed date has yet to be determined due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
