WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 6 of Fire Force, "The Time to Choose," now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Fire Force forges a new allegiance for the newest Adolla Burst user, Inca, as she chooses which side she'll be joining. Shinra attempts a final plea with the Fifth Pillar to escape with him and join the Special Fire Force, but Inca ignores him and instead willingly chooses to go with Charon, joining the Evangelist.

Pyrokinetic abilities are commonplace in the world of Fire Force, but awakening an Adolla Burst is unique to only a few people. The mysterious flames come from a strange dimension where the Evangelist debuted, and grants users added abilities, like Adolla Links. Shinra, Shō, Inca, Haumea and an unknown First Pillar are the only Adolla Burst users seen so far. Those who have manifested Bursts, the Eight Pillars, are targets of the Evangelist, who plans to utilize them to recreate the Great Cataclysm from 250 years prior.

While it was heavily inferred that Inca would ultimately choose the Evangelist due to her continued pursuit of a dangerous life, she also comments that her power has already decided her future. Inca's ability to sense heat signatures to predict where fires will occur plays into her Ignition Ability. She uses her fingers to trace lines of the heat signatures in her mind to create an explosion. When she chose to follow Charon, she didn't see any lines, which to her, means her fate was already decided.

As Inca walks off with the White-Clad, Shinra angrily points to all the death and destruction the Evangelist has caused as reasons not to join them, but Inca is unaffected by the loss of life. Shinra screams at her before collapsing on the ground. Before losing consciousness, he wonders if Shō prefers staying with the Evangelist, but remembers seeing his brother's crying face in the Nether and dismisses the thought from his head.

Haumea joins up with Charon and Inca, but the trio is confronted by Panda, one of Inca's friends. Panda, still reeling over the death of his brother at the hands of Charon, aims a gun at them demanding they let Inca go. Before Charon can dispose of him, Inca intervenes. Again, she claims fate has already decided since the visible lines of her ability appeared. She sets Panda ablaze, gleefully watching as her friend slowly burns to death while screaming her name. The moment serves as Inca's starting point as a White-Clad.

Shinra wonders if saving Inca was ever a possibility, lamenting over his failure. Captain Obi and Licht share Shinra's frustrations over the Fire Force's lack of knowledge surrounding the Evangelist and Adolla Bursts, agreeing that they need to learn more about their enemy. Before Shinra leaves, all the citizens they saved thank the Special Fire Force, but Shinra's mind drifts to the words of Company 4's Captain Hague. Early in the series, Shinra was moved by people's praise, but now feels the weight of those lost instead.

As Company 8 plans a joint operation to kick start the series' next arc, Licht meets with Joker, confirming the two may be working together. The mysterious, self-proclaimed antihero marks his first appearance of the second season, with his overall intentions still unclear. When Licht rejoins the 8th Company, we learn that he, along with Shinra, Arthur and Tamaki, will embark on a mission to the Chinese Peninsula.

Dubbed "Operation Chinese Landing," the chosen members of Company 8 are joined by Ogun Montgomery, Lieutenant Pan and Takeru Noto/Juggernaut, whose family lives on the Chinese Peninsula. The crew set sail towards a new location to investigate the Great Cataclysm, hoping to uncover information about the Evangelist.
