Fire Emblem: Three Houses has many characters with varying personalities. Depending on which house the player teaches, they automatically gain a whole class of students but can recruit students from other houses to bolster their forces. This could be for reasons such as rounding the variety of forces they had for gameplay, or because they wanted to save them from eventual death by the post-time skip phase of the game.
