The Fire Emblem games have been known for featuring some very interesting characters who later end up filling up the roster of the Super Smash Bros. games. Jokes aside, Marth, Lucina, and Roy are all great characters, to name a few. They all have depth and personalities that make the player want to continue seeing their journey.

That holds true for all of the games in the Fire Emblem series, even the ones that haven't been ported over to America yet. Given the remakes that have come out, though, it may only be a matter of time before they do.

10 Bruunya Was One Of The Three Wyvern Generals & Most Devoted Among Them

Bruunya's character is the perfect secondary antagonist, one who's powerful enough to put up a good fight and doesn't need a complex backstory. She's one of the Three Wyvern Generals and is immensely loyal to both her country of Bern and her lord, Zephiel. She always follows Zephiel but also acts exactly how most soldiers in her situation would. She has a fitting death as well, making a final stand among her troops and dying for what she believed in.

9 Lance Is The Perfect Contrast To The More Hot-Headed Alen

Alen often gets more attention than Lance does due to his hot-headed tendencies, but Lance was the better character of the two. In some ways, he's the prototypical knight, someone who lives by a stringent code. Unlike most knights or paladins who fall into similar trappings, he doesn't push his code on others. He isn't overbearing with his beliefs and always keeps a level head in battle. He's also a bit of a bookworm, something not often seen with characters who favor physical combat.

8 Wolt Is Roy's Best Friend & Has The Determination Of A Shonen Protagonist

Among the companions the player can have in their party, Wolt is the closest to Roy. They were childhood friends, and while they have fights here and there, they always remain loyal to one another. Wolt's determination is his most defining trait.

He has so much determination that one would expect him to be a shonen protagonist. He doesn't let anything get him down, always doing whatever he can to get stronger and help his friend Roy. It's a loyalty anyone would be lucky to have in a friend.

7 Dieck Is A Rare Mercenary Who Is Loyal To His Employers & Acts As A Mentor To Many

Dieck can be a bit gruff when he's first introduced, but there's a lot of depth to his character. Despite being a mercenary, he's loyal to those he works for and with. He isn't in it for the money and even tries to distance himself from a former employer to help improve the reputation of their house.  He also acts as a mentor to many who are in his squad, from telling Shanna to never push too far ahead to being a confidant to Rutger. He's always there to impart wisdom.

6 Shanna Has A Personality That Makes Everyone View Her As Their Younger Sister

Given the number of conflicts everyone deals with throughout the game, it's nice to have a character who retains a cheery personality. That's what Shanna brings to the game, a cheerfulness that makes it easy for her to befriend others. Once she does, they often begin viewing her as a younger sister, just as Lot does. Even Dieck starts taking her under his wing, acting as a father figure to her and even earning the nickname of "Chief."

5 Sigurd Is The Embodiment Of Recklessness & Nobility

Sigurd is an odd mix of personality traits that seem like they wouldn't make sense together at first glance. He's the image of grace and nobility, leading his house with the utmost chivalry.

He also does it with utter loyalty to those beneath him, willing to throw himself into danger if it means protecting his people. It's this recklessness that defines much of his journey, always rushing headlong into battle without much thought of his own well-being.

4 Ethlyn Morphs From A Tomboy Into A Royal Lady

When she was younger, Ethlyn was a tomboy through and through. She wanted to play with boys rather than learn the finer qualities of being a lady. When she marries Quan, many of those traits get suppressed, showing that she can also be quite feminine. That's until she's forced back into action, where she proves to be just as stubborn and reckless as her brother Sigurd. It ends up being her fatal flaw when her refusal to retreat ends with her meeting her end.

3 Manfroy Manipulated The Whole World Into Starting Another Holy War

Manfroy's boss fight is more than a little disappointing, and the fact his character was so well crafted makes it even worse. Manfroy managed to start another Holy War in an attempt to revive his dark lord. He did it through shrewd assassinations and key political manipulations. His ability to brainwash people was second to none, getting Julia to battle her half-brother Seliph during the climax of Genealogy of the Holy War.

2 Finn Wears The Hardships Of War On His Sleeve & Lacks Much Emotion

Normally, an unemotional character can be rather boring since it's hard to relate to them. That would be the case with Finn, had Thracia 776 been the only game he was in. Instead, his lack of emotions stems from all the hardships he faced during Genealogy of the Holy War. After losing his lord, he began shutting down emotionally, keeping it all wrapped up inside of him. It's the type of development not often seen in Fire Emblem games.

1 Lara Overcame Her Enslavement & Became the Symbol Of Thracia's Reconstruction

A story like Lara's can be a difficult one to tell properly, given that she was a child slave. It's a problematic and touchy subject since she danced for the man who saved her, Perne. The game eventually has him dismiss her once he realized she was a child, and but Lara's story ultimately ends up being one of the most impactful in Thracia 776 because of it. She manages to save Perne's life and eventually uses her dancing to become a symbol of Thracia's Reconstruction.
