Netflix canceled Iron Fist on Friday, making it the first Marvel original superhero show on the streaming service to end, though Defenders is unlikely to receive a second season. . Actor Finn Jones, who plays Danny Rand/Iron Fist, released a statement on the show's cancelation.

"With every end is a new beginning," Jones wrote on Instagram. "I have an enormous amount of love and respect for everyone involved with the last two seasons of this show. Defending the greatest city in the world amongst the most talented and warmest people has been a privilege and a joy. Blessed to have taken this journey and grateful for the ongoing support."

The first part of Jones' statement may hint that the show's cancelation isn't the end for its characters, though what exactly that "new beginning" might be in this case is unknown and could just refer to more acting opportunities for Jones himself. There was also some ambiguity in Netflix's original statement, which read, "While the series on Netflix has ended, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on.” However, there's been no official statement on the future of Iron Fist's characters on the streaming service.

Jones first appeared as Rand in the first season of  Iron Fist, which debuted in 2017. He later reprised his role in The Defenders and Luke Cage Season 2.
