Fingeroth Teaches Intensive One-Week Comics Writing Course @ NYU 7/31 - 8/6

Official Press Release

Longtime Spider-Man editor and Marvel Comics writer Danny Fingeroth, co-author of the upcoming HOW TO CREATE COMICS FROM SCRIPT TO PRINT (TwoMorrows), will be teaching an intensive one-week comics and graphic novel writing course JULY 31 through AUGUST 6.

Here are the details:

Course # X32.9384

Monday through Thursday nights July 31, August 1-3 6:20-9:05 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday August 5 & 6, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

This hands-on, intensive course assumes students already have some mastery of the fundamentals of comics and graphic novel scriptwriting. In four weeknights and two full weekend days, students will write a complete comics script. The course is taught in a computer lab with printers.

In the first session, we hit the ground running and work our way through a week in which story ideas/scripts are pitched, thoughtfully critiqued by the instructor and the other students, and revised. These focused workshop sessions are interspersed with relevant lectures and practical answers to students' questions. The weekend sessions further include in-class writing and rewriting.

Please come to the first class with springboards for three stories; each student chooses one as his or her class project.

Prerequisite: Writing for Comics and Graphic Novels/X32.9372, equivalent experience, or a portfolio approved by the instructor. Send non-returnable portfolios to: D. Fingeroth, SCPS Writing Program, Box 201, 2444 Broadway, New York, NY 10024. Enrollment is strictly limited.
