The Nautilus shall sail again if David Fincher has anything to say about it. The filmmaker's involvement in Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea remake was announced in 2010, but aside from the news that Fincher tapped Se7en writer Andrew Kevin Walker to take a crack at the script, the seas have been a bit too calm.

Variety reports that, while Fincher's waiting on the script for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo follow-up, he's trying to resurrect 20,000 Leagues with longtime collaborator Brad Pitt (Se7en, Fight Club). Pitt is pegged to play Ned Land, portrayed by Kirk Douglas in Disney's 1954 adaptation of the Jules Verne sci-fi classic.

Pitt's people would neither confirm nor deny this talk, but if he does sign on, who would be a big enough name to play opposite him as Captain Nemo?
