Fincher to Direct “Black Hole,” Based on Charles Burns Comic

Variety reports news that hugely acclaimed film director David Fincher (“Zodiac,” “Fight Club”) is attached to direct a live-action adaptation of “Black Hole,” based on the Harvey Award-winning horror graphic novel by Charles Burns.

Originally serialized by Kitchen Sink Press and then by Fantagraphics Books and collected in hardcover by Pantheon Books, “Black Hole” follows a 1970s group of teenagers who contract The Bug, a sexually transmitted disease that causes them to physically mutate, which drives them into exile from society.

In 2006, the “Beowulf” screenwriting team of Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman were confirmed to be writing the “Black Hole” adaptation for Paramount Pictures.
