WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Final Space Season 3, Episode 8, "Forgiveness," which aired Saturday on Adult Swim.

Fox's has weighed heavily on the Galaxy 2 crew in Final Space, especially his younger sister, Ash, who blames Gary for her brother's death. "Forgiveness" episode opens at a funeral for the Tryvuulian, as the team uses the holodeck to make it appears they're in a forest. But as everyone gathers around, Gary stays behind, feeling as if his presence would upset Ash even more. Regardless, Ash is angry that the team is accepting Fox's death and decides to fly into space to get time alone.

When flying through final space, Ash runs into a shapeshifting alien who she names Evra. While confused at first, Evra became the exact thing Ash needs -- a friend to help her take her anger out. The duo blast nearby rocks, which becomes a good comforting tool for Ash, who lets all of her anger out. Evra quickly notices Ash's pain and takes her to the Hidden Lights, an aurora borealis-like formation. While there, the beauty of it calms Ash down as the lights make her feel small.

As this is happening, Evra keeps changing into different forms, which upsets Ash because she thinks the being is uncomfortable with her. But Evra states that she keeps changing to find one that Ash likes. After settling on a humanoid form, the pair sit and watch the lights, holding hands to comfort each other. Soon after, Mooncake flies by carrying Fox's grave on the back on the ship, with the team having said their goodbyes. Seeing Fox vanish into the hidden lights comforts Ash, as she believes he will be okay among the stars. Mooncake then circles back and hugs Ash, helping her realize that her personal grieving period is over for now. She bids Evra farewell, hoping that their paths will cross again.

Back on the ship, Ash arrives to see Little Cato waiting for her, mostly because he wanted to make sure she didn't come back to kill Gary. Gary then walks in, damaged by his fight with Avocato after he was told about the true origin of Little Cato. Gary tries to apologize to Ash, clearly feeling awful about what he had done to her, and tells her that he loved Fox and was hoping that Ash would share some stories about him.

Ash lets Gary sit by her as she tells a fun story about her brother, and the scene ends with both of them laughing, comforting each other by keeping Fox alive for a few more moments. With all the severed bonds slowly fixing themselves, the team is finding the positives amongst the sea of negatives, and with the news that Kevin Van Neuton has almost fixed the gateway back home, the Galaxy 2 finally has some hope of escaping final space.

Created by Olan Rogers, Final Space stars Olan Rogers, Tom Kenny, Tika Sumpter, Fred Armisen, Steven Yuen, David Tennant and Coty Galloway. Season 3 airs Saturdays on Adult Swim.
