The fifth and final season of Lucifer is coming to Netflix, and star Tom Ellis has confirmed it will not only have more episodes than Season 4 but be divided into two parts.

While appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Ellis revealed that the two parts will each contain eight episodes, without announcing when each batch of episodes would be released on the premium streaming service. Season 4, the first season to be produced by Netflix, had run for ten episodes as the shortest season in the entire series.

"Season 5 of Lucifer is going to be split into two halves," explained Ellis in an interview with Clarkson. "Netflix is going to drop eight episodes, there’s going to be a little break, and then they’re going to drop another eight more episodes.'

Clarkson, a self-confessed super fan of the Vertigo Comics adaptation, had previously teased a major announcement surrounding the Netflix series would occur on her show. With production on the final season in principal photography for nearly two months, the fan-favorite series is gearing up for the end.
