One of the most beloved video games of all time is Final Fantasy VII, and the universally acclaimed RPG is getting an enhanced remake next year from Square Enix.
A new trailer for the upcoming game unveiled at this year's Tokyo Game Show showcases the breathtaking, updated visuals and a brief look at the revised combat system featuring more real-time elements, as well as additional elements expanding on the story and characters from the original 1997 PlayStation title.
As the characters are seen racing through the streets of Midgar, a seemingly new character is glimpsed soaring through the air on his motorbike smugly grinning in mid-jump.
After years of rumors and speculation, an enhanced remake of Final Fantasy VII was confirmed by Square Enix in 2015 for the PlayStation 4. Original writer Kazushige Nojima was brought on to the project to expand the story while retaining the core narrative from the original game. What other surprises lie in store for players returning to the title or new gamers experiencing it for the first time have yet to be seen.
The enhanced remake of Final Fantasy VII is developed and published by Square Enix. It is scheduled to be released on March 3, 2020 for PlayStation 4.
