Filming is officially underway on "War for the Planet of the Apes." Matt Reeves, who returning to the director's chair again following the blockbuster "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," announced the start of filming with an on-set picture via Twitter.

The image shows two motion-capture actors, one atop a horse, on an early morning beach at low tide. Even without the impressive CGI apes, it's a beautiful shot. Check it out below.

Reeves has also confirmed that composer Michael Giacchino will return to score "War," a job he also had for "Dawn." Hitting theaters July 14, 2017, "War for the Planet of the Apes" stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, and Steven Zhan. The script was written by Mark Bomback.
