Titles in Final Fantasy XIV have always been the perfect way to show off to other players. Though some titles are easily earned as players progress through FFXIV's main story, there are a host of extremely hard-to-get titles that grant any players wearing them an aura of prestige and respect.

Titles can be earned from achievements in almost every single activity in FFXIV. Even niche parts of the game like Mahjong have their own unique titles. Of course, in order to earn the most prestigious and rarest of titles in the game, which will leave other players staring in awe, gamers will need a massive amount of skill, time and a little luck.

Legend Titles Are the Pinnacle of Prestige in FFXIV

Legend titles, including "The Legend," "The Ultimate Legend," "The Perfect Legend" and the recent "The Heavens' Legend" are the quintessential prestigious titles. They are all obtained from completing Ultimate Raids, the hardest fights in the game. Ultimate Raids are 20-minute ordeals where the eight-player party must perfectly perform the most difficult raid mechanics in the game. Even with a dedicated group, progressing through the entirety of an Ultimate Raid can take upwards of 100 hours. The most recent Ultimate Raid, which is heavily related to FFXIV's lore, awards "The Heavens' Legend" title on completion. This Ultimate took top raiders a full week of constant grinding to beat. Players must be determined to put in the time if they want one of these prestigious titles.

The Alpha Wolf Is a Rare and Difficult Title to Obtain

Final Fantasy XIV PVP Garo Gear

FFXIV's PvP holds some extremely rare titles for players willing to put in the work. Certain titles require players to be in the top level of PvP skill, including "Of the Final Conflict," which requires players to finish the Crystalline Conflict season as the #1 ranked player on their server, which requires a massive amount of skill and time.

For those who aren't the best PvP player on their server, there are still other rare titles to pursue. "The Alpha Wolf" title, which is owned by less than 0.1% of the player base, requires a grand total of 5000 wins in the Crystalline Conflict. Though this title doesn't require being in the top echelon of PvP skill, it is still a huge time commitment. Even if a player had a 100% win rate in the Crystalline Conflict, "The Alpha Wolf" title would still take upwards of 500 hours to achieve. A nice upside to this ultra-rare title is that players pursuing it will naturally earn the prestigious "Rhalgr's Right Fist" title, which is earned from getting 5000 total knockouts in the Crystalline Conflict.

The Necromancer Title Requires Players to Go It Alone

Final Fantasy XIV deep dungeon

"The Necromancer" title is earned by soloing FFXIV's deep dungeon, Palace of the Dead. Palace of the Dead is a 200-floor dungeon that is built for a four-player party. Even as a group of four, it's easy to die in the daunting gauntlet of enemies, traps and bosses that is Palace of the Dead. As such, "The Necromancer" is granted to the few players who are able to complete all 200 floors solo. Also, one death will send the player back to floor 1.

Though FFXIV has many interesting jobs, only a select few like Red Mage and Machinist are ideal for this challenge, as they can effectively kite the enemies on later floors that would otherwise one-shot them. This title requires players to have comprehensive knowledge of every floor, trap, enemy and boss in Palace of the Dead. There are several documents with dozens of pages on solo strategies, but even with all the knowledge in the world, this gauntlet still requires a good amount of luck to complete. Any player with "The Necromancer" title is sure to be revered as a god of the game.
