Final Fantasy is a long-running series of Japanese science fantasy role-playing games developed and published by Square Enix, who are also notable for their work on the cult-classic game Kingdom Hearts. First released in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, the franchise has evolved over the years to incorporate many video game genres, ranging from tactical RPGs to third-person shooters and even racing. While sometimes hard to keep up with, each major game in the series follows a standalone plot with different settings and characters. It is one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, with over 168 million copies sold throughout 16 main installments, with a 17th one, Final Fantasy XVI, set to be released in 2023.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Windows.
