Felicity Jones, who portrayed the leading role of Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, recently addressed her potential reunion with Diego Luna in Andor Season 2.

When asked about an appearance in the Disney+ series on BBC One’s The One Show, Jones confirmed that there are no plans for her to appear in the acclaimed Disney+ series, which is currently in production in the United Kingdom. "I'm afraid to say I won't be, but I still have hope for Jyn Erso at some point to make a comeback. But no, sadly I won't be."

Rogue One's Jyn Erso

However, despite expressing her desire to see Jyn Erso back in Star Wars, Jones admitted that she’s not fond of reprising any of her previous roles, making the Rogue One protagonist’s possible return in the future more uncertain. "I actually wouldn't want to repeat any of [my characters]," she said. "It's so funny — once you've sort of done it, and you've kind of put them to bed, then you're ready for the next challenge."

In 2016's Rogue One introduced Jyn Erso as the daughter of Mads Mikkelsen’s Galen Erso, a scientist who was forced to create the Empire’s greatest weapon, the Death Star. After getting separated from her family, she was raised and trained by Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera. In order to survive, she became a criminal and was eventually recruited by the Rebel Alliance for an important mission involving her father. Jyn Erson along with Cassian Andor led an unauthorized small group of rebels to retrieve the superweapon’s schematics.

Cassian Andor’s Transformation in Season 2

Andor takes place five years before the events of Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One. It chronicles the origins of Luna’s Cassian Andor from his time as a thief through his transformation into a hero of the Rebellion. Fans last saw the titular character during the Season 1 finale, in which he finally joined Luthen Rael’s rebel movement. In a previous interview, creator Tony Gilroy confirmed that the 12-episode final season of Andor will be split up into four three-episode arcs consisting of significant time jumps.

Luna, whose Season 1 performance earned him a Golden Globe nomination for best actor, recently discussed Andor’s growth in Season 2, teasing that his character’s four-year-long service to the Rebellion has deeply changed him. "He [Cassian Andor] wants to be a part of the Rebellion, but I’m not sure if he knows what that means yet…but now he has to learn it," Luna explained. "And so it’s going to take longer. We’re gonna go for four years [in season two], and when we find him, he’s so far away from where we left him at the end of season one. He’s basically the guy to trust for something like that mission."

Andor Season 2 is expected to premiere in August 2024, exclusively on Disney+.
