Doctor Stephen Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme, the Master of the Mystic Arts. Tony Stark is the Marvel Universe's top mechanic and roboticist. Both are arrogant heroes with origins by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Both, as "Invincible Iron Man" scribe Brian Michael Bendis recently pointed out, rock some pretty great facial hair. And Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige is looking forward to seeing them team-up.
When asked which "Infinity War" team-up he was most looking forward to seeing, Fiege replied (via Comic Book Movie), "There are so many. but I would say, both because of the characters and the actors who've created them, Doctor Strange and Tony Stark."
Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark has been a particularly bro-tastic take on the character. First, he was Science Bros. with fellow doctoral-wielding hero Bruce Banner. Then, he nurtured a friendship with Avengers field leader Steve Rogers -- and we all know how that ended. With Banner Hulking out with his new buddy Thor, and Steve Rogers hiding out with Black Panther, Tony needs a new best buddy -- and if Feige gets his way, Doctor Strange will be it.
Feige didn't offer further details, but it is evident that Marvel has been thinking of their movie future beyond their giant Avengers vs Thanos two-parter. Feige also remarked, "Particularly in Infinity War and the movie after that there are … unexpected team-ups." In the meantime, we'll just have to let our imaginations run wild...
“Avengers: Infinity War” opens in theaters on May 2018, and will star dozens of your favorite superheroes. The untitled fourth "Avengers" film is scheduled for May 2019.
