WARNING: This article contains spoilers from "The Door," Season 6, Episode 8 of Fear the Walking Dead.

After a hiatus, Fear the Walking Dead is back for the second half of its sixth season. The midseason premiere kicked things off with the death of a fan-favorite character, which fans can now watch online.

As Fear the Walking Dead's John Dorie approached Dakota after learning she was the one that murdered Cameron, the young girl pulled a revolver. Despite John putting down his own weapons and trying to talk her down, Dakota shot John in cold blood and pushed her mortally wounded victim off the bridge they're standing on, into the swirling waters below.

John's death was confirmed by the end of the episode, with his wife June discovering him risen as a walker, forcing her to put down her undead husband for good. John's death served as an emotional reminder of the cost of violently overthrowing the villainous Virginia, and that none of the main characters are safe.

Series showrunners Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss revealed that without John moving forward, the surviving characters would no longer have his moral compass as the war against Virginia escalated. And with Morgan also aware that Dakota is Cameron's killer, she may have a reckoning coming her way.

Fear the Walking Dead stars Lennie James, Rubén Blades, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Maggie Grace, Garret Dillahunt, Jenna Elfman, Alexa Nisenson, Karen David, Austin Amelio, Mo Collins, Zoe Colletti and Christine Evangelista. New episodes air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on AMC.
