WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Fear Street Part 3: 1666, now streaming on Netflix.

In Fear Street Part 3: 1666, fans were eager to learn the identity of the hooded villain controlling the curse in 1994's Shadyside. Many suspected it was the persecuted witch, Sarah Fier, wreaking havoc on the town that split from the Pilgrim settlement of Union. Surprisingly, the final part of the trilogy reveals the massive twist, and it comes way earlier than expected.

Less than halfway into the Fear Street film, Deena learns everything after bleeding onto Sarah's skeleton hand, transporting her to Sarah's body in 1666. She relives Sarah's memories and discovers Sarah and Hannah Miller were accused of witchcraft as a blight came over Union. This was seeded out by toxic males, Caleb and Mad Thomas, bitter the girls rejected them to pursue a secret lesbian relationship.

Hannah was arrested and chained after her dad, Pastor Cyrus, murdered 12 kids, only to be killed by Solomon Goode to save Sarah. This causes a desperate Sarah to think witchcraft can save her beloved. However, when she visits the outcast witch, Widow Mary, she finds her throat's been slit and her satanic tome taken. Sarah ends up at Solomon's home, hiding out as she seeks help. He's a family friend, with the Fiers taking pity on him after losing his wife and child.

But as the mob scours Solomon's house, Sarah finds an underground cave system, which -- as learned in Fear Street Part 2-- is the network of tunnels the witch uses. She stumbles into a ritual room where the pastor's name is engraved in stone, and blood fills the witch's mark in the ground. Solomon then comes in, confesses he killed Mary and took the book to become the witch.

Sarah's shocked as Solomon admits he brokered a deal with the devil for a slasher to spill blood to enrich the land. Solomon is tired of death and loss, so he just wants to live a blessed life again. Sarah, though, is heartbroken as her brother, Henry, was one of Cyrus' victims, which leads to Solomon and her fighting. He ends up cutting her hand off in the fracas, confirming she never offered it to Satan. That was all a lie the Goode bloodline passed down to take attention away from themselves. Solomon eventually captures her, and she's lynched. However, Sarah tells him the truth will haunt him and the town forever.

When Deena returns to the present, she reconciles the memories and admits to Josh, her brother, the firstborn of each Goode generation is tasked with summoning slashers for the sacrifices. Her visions showed her each version of Solomon, with the present leader being Sheriff Nick.

Deena's livid as their empire's been built on lies and murder. It also personally stings how innocent lovers were considered heretics for being lesbians, reminding Deena of her and her possessed lover, Sam. Sarah lied and said she bewitched Hannah so she wouldn't be hanged, which pushes Deena further toward revenge. Not only does she want Nick dead to free Sam but to avenge Sarah and Hannah.

While Sarah was no witch, her words hurt Nick in the end as he and Deena battle in the cave. Deena pushes his hand into the demonic goo -- the gateway slashers emerge from -- and he sees all the killers his ancestors summoned. More so, he watches the victims get gored and starts to feel their pain. The shock of it all leaves him vulnerable, so Deena stabs him and finishes the job. It ends the curse and gives Deena closure as she and Sam can now live for those who died in the name of this sorcerer's greed.
