The following contains spoilers from FBI: Most Wanted Season 4, Episode 22, "Heaven Falling," which debuted May 23 on CBS.

FBI: Most Wanted has become quite the procedural staple over its first four seasons. Along with the rest of the FBI franchise, it's become one of CBS' top-performing series. That's almost surprising because of the amount of cast turnover that the series has weathered. Starting after Season 1, there have been multiple departures and additions. Most Wanted was even forced to write its lead character, Julian McMahon's Jess LaCroix, at the end of Season 3.

Dylan McDermott came on as McMahon's replacement, and so far, he's done an admirable job playing Special Agent Remy Scott. He first appeared in the last few episodes of Season 3, but he really had his stride in Season 4. Notably, Remy's personal life has taken center stage more than once, and in "Heaven Falling," Most Wanted fully dove into his dark past. In the process, it solved a huge mystery that affected the entire Most Wanted team.

Remy Scott Solved His Brother's Murder

FBI Most Wanted's Remy Scott talking on a phone

As Remy got to know the team, he eventually told them why he was an FBI agent. His younger brother, Mikey, had been murdered 25 years prior, and he became an agent to help get justice and closure for victims. He was solid in his career and his beliefs, until midway through Season 4. The man that killed Mikey had applied for early release based on his poor medical state. Remy adamantly pledged to block the effort, but recently, new details came to light. Prosecutors had withheld information, and it was possible that Mikey's "killer" might have been innocent.

In "Heaven Falling," Remy put his team on the case, and they found the unthinkable. Mikey's "killer" was actually innocent. Corrupt officials had been bribed to frame the black man for the murder. Mikey's real killer was one of his friends. The whole affair took a toll on Remy. He spent his career trying to get justice for people, but he had unknowingly kept an innocent man in jail for 25 years. On top of that, the investigation proved that his perfect little brother was far from perfect. It's not likely that Remy will leave the team, but going forward, he'll certainly be more committed to rooting out corrupt officials.

The Most Wanted Team Going into Season 5

The FBI: Most Wanted task force is briefed by a pointing Remy Scott

"Heaven Falling" was all about Remy finding Mikey's real killer, and Season 5 will be about his response. However, the episode did little for the other characters, and it didn't kill anyone off. Obliviously, everyone was committed to helping Remy, but to get a better understanding of the team, one has to look back at the rest of the season. For example, Barnes was on maternity leave when Remy took over the team. When she returned, things were different, and she had trouble with Jess' death. Since then, she and Remy have reconciled, and currently, they're in a good place with each other.

Ray is the newest member of the team, and he's meshed nicely with the rest of the team, taking over the role of marksman. There have also been a few times when he's connected particularly well with victims. At one point, he stood up for a woman who was being wrongfully evicted. It was implied that they started dating, so it's possible that Ray will have a love interest in Season 5.

Hana probably had the worst time in Season 4. Midway through, she was abducted, and the team had to go to great lengths to get her back. She wasn't hurt, but it clearly left an emotional toll on her. She also started moonlighting online, trying to catch predators, but that backfired when a person she caught killed himself. It was a difficult experience, but she pulled through and seems to be in a good place. Gains was a big help for her, and she's been a rock in more ways than one. Every once in a while, the story behind her scars comes up, but she's solid going into Season 5.

FBI: Most Wanted airs Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
