WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of Fate: The Winx Saga, now streaming on Netflix.

The Season 1 finale of Netflix's Fate: The Winx Saga packs a lot in as Alfea's former headmistress, Rosalind (Lesley Sharp) has been awakened from her prison and is working a mysterious scheme against the school. However, as she helps Bloom (Abigail Cowen) harness her powers, the Burned Ones start attacking campus, causing Bloom to head back to help out.

The battle leads to an epic, fiery showdown where Bloom doesn't just start tapping into her full potential but also changes the complexion of the school forever.

The Fire Fairy

Headmistress Dowling barricades the school and warns Bloom that she needs to protect her. The Burned Ones want Bloom, but as the teen sees Sam infected and dying, she asks her friends for help. Aisha, the Water Fairy, and Stella, the Light Fairy, take her near the pond where Bloom shields herself using a water wall, taps into her emotions and begins harnessing her full powers.

She grows wings, which causes the creatures to come for her, but this time, she's ready. She uses her flames and burns them, killing the creatures by destroying their cinders. After the fight, Bloom's friends take her back to rest and are relieved that she saved the day because it didn't seem like the Specialists at the school could have defended themselves against this large pack.

Bloom Reveals the Truth

Bloom has embraced the concept of family again after seeing Aisha stick by her despite questioning her temperament and Stella make a heroic turn. Musa also stayed with Sam because he was almost infected, inspiring Terra and making their sisterhood so much stronger. As a result, Bloom takes them to Earth so she can tell her parents the truth.

Bloom admits she's a changeling, a fairy baby that was swapped for theirs by Rosalind. It takes some adjusting, but the parents eventually accept she is their daughter after over 16 years of love and warmth. She even goes as far as to show them her powers, being completely open for the first time in a long time.

Dowling Meets a Dark Fate

As Dowling buries the Burned Ones, Rosalind shows up and admits they were created during an ancient war a thousand years ago. Bloom's Dragon Flame was the magic used on them, which is why they tried to hunt the teen down. Regardless, Dowling's still upset Rosalind had them bomb Aster Dell, killing Burned Ones and Blood Witches, because the faculty covered it up, thinking they killed human refugees.

It's why they imprisoned Rosalind, but the ex-headmistress doesn't care because she's found her new weapon in Bloom. Dowling admits she'll never let Rosalind corrupt any of her students, but as she walks away, her former mentor levitates her and snaps her neck. Rosalind buries her with the Burned Ones and walks off to reclaim the school.

The New Faculty Arises

When the girls get back, they're stunned to see the massive changes. Stella's obnoxious mom, Queen Luna, is back with Solaria's army, taking over the school to turn it into a militia. She's installed Rosalind as headmistress, which makes sense because, despite her war crimes, Rosalind fits the bill. To make matters worse, the head of the Specialists, Silva, has been arrested. He's charged with the attempted murder of Sky's dad, Andreas, after Andreas tried to stop him from warning the others about Rosalind's secrets years ago.

As it turns out, Andreas mentored Beatrix to infiltrate the school, and with Riven and Dale seemingly flipping from Silva to join their side, the battle lines have been drawn. Terra's dad, Harvey, has been intimidated into staying on as the valued chemicals professor, but it's clear the school is now all about creating killers to go after Burned Ones and other fairy enemies.

Executive produced by Brian Young (The Vampire Diaries) and Winx Club creator Iginio Straffi, Fate: The Winx Saga stars Abigail Cowen (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Bloom, Hannah van der Westhuysen as Stella, Precious Mustapha as Aisha, Eliot Salt (Normal People) as Terra, Elisha Applebaum as Musa, Sadie Soverall as Beatrix, Freddie Thorp (A Discovery of Witches) as Riven, Danny Griffin as Sky, Theo Graham as Dane and Jacob Dudman (The Stranger) as Sam. Eve Best (Nurse Jackie), Robert James-Collier (Downton Abbey), Josh Cowdery (Legends), Alex Macqueen (Peaky Blinders) and Eva Birthistle (The Last Kingdom) also star. Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
