First expanded upon in Fate/Apocrypha, Mordred has quickly become a fan favorite in the Fate community. Though she resembles her “father” a great deal, Mordred stands out from other “Saberface” characters with her sharp tongue, explosive attitude and unique but familiar design. Mordred has become more and more prevalent in Fate related media since her introduction. As you’d expect, she’s gotten quite a bit of fanfare because of that.

Fan artists have done a really good job with showing their appreciation and love for the character with some amazing works. There are tons to go through, with a lot of them capturing different sides of the character while also re-imaging her in some pretty awesome ways. With that said, here are 10 pieces of Mordred fan art you have to see.

10 Casual Mo

Starting things off is a look that we see Mordred in pretty often, but one that doesn’t seem to be that much of a favourite among artists. Still, 蟲师之夏 manages to do a great job here. We’re shown a more playful Mordred and really showing off their artistic chops.

Drawn over a white background, what really stands out here is the use of colors with this piece. It’s not incredibly vibrant, but the muted color scheme really brings a charm to the character that goes nicely with her pose and playful smile.

9 No Mask

Here we have the first of what you can expect to be many fan works featuring Mordred in her iconic armor. Unlike most, artist ことかい りつ chose to go without the helmet for this one. It’s a look that really suits the character as we once again get a confident grin out of her.

The art itself is incredibly sharp and true to its source material. All eyes are on the armor and the attention to detail the artist put in with regards to faithfully recreating its look.

8 Battle Ready

Up next we have a fantastic piece by artist CHOI, which perfectly captures the intensity that Mordred brings as a character. This is the first piece we’ve seen that pictures Mordred in a battle situation – and despite her gentle traits, she’s much more suited to this kind of situation.

The thing that stands out the most about this piece is the dark colors used alongside the vibrant ones. It clashes and stands out upon first glance, and really creates an intensity that we expect from Mordred.

7 Sleepyhead

Here we have another great casual picture, focusing on Mordred’s gentler character traits. It’s a vulnerable side she doesn’t show very often that’s perfectly captured by artistセン.

Snuggled under her kotatsu, Mordred looks like she’s enjoying the perfect winter day indoors. It’s a very soothing scene that the artist puts together perfectly. Though you probably won’t see this in any anime featuring the abrasive Saber, these kinds of wholesome scenes are what make some of these works of fan art so great.

6 At Your Service

Mordred is a character that can pull off a variety of different looks, and we’ve seen that in the anime and in various FGO scenes. You never know which Mordred you’re going to get, but regardless fans love her anyways.

The butler look is one that suits Mordred’s character due to her charisma and outward confidence she regularly displays. This piece by ohako looks fantastic and really makes it seem like she fits perfectly into the role.

5 Clarent Blood Arthur

With all the more light-hearted pieces we’ve seen so far, this next piece is a welcome change of pace. Despite her charms, Mordred is a character that’s at her best when her intensity as a warrior is on full display.

This piece by ryopie shows Mordred in the midst of using her Noble Phantasm, Clarent Blood Arthur. It’s a powerful move and the intensity of the situation is perfectly captured by the vibrant colors and the expression on Mordred’s face. It’s a really nice job by the artist.

4 Seeing Red

This next piece is certainly one of the most unique looking on our list. This piece of fan art by Croodle instantly grabs your attention with its use of color, particularly the striking shade of red used as the background. We all know the significance of the color to Mordred’s character, and this is a perfect tie in.

As for the design itself, the full armor look is probably Mordred’s best. Every artist has their own variations on it visually, but this one really stands out. It’s very minimalist, but manages to do plenty with the contrast between the bright background and the dark shading of the armor.

3 Father & Son

Anyone who’s familiar with Mordred’s character knows how things ended for her in her time. While it’s a tragic story, this piece by stolas can’t help but warm our hearts. Despite Mordred and Artoria relationship not being great in cannon, many fans of the series can’t help but hope for the two to have some sort of reconciliation – even though the latter’s animosity towards the former is understandable.

As you can tell, this piece takes place in Chaldea and features Mash alongside a sleeping Artoria and a very sheepish Mo trying her best not to wake the passed out King of Kings. It’s a piece that perfectly captures Mordred’s caring side.

2 Full Armor

It’s only full armor pictures from here on out, and really what better way is there to finish things off? Mordred’s armor design is superb. While many characters in the Fate universe are recognizable for their physical traits, Mordred’s armor stands out on its own.

Artist, elrem really does a great job here in portraying Mordred as the imposing warrior she is. There’s no action going on, but this still pose from Mordred is enough to show off everything that makes her armored look so great.

1 Knight of The Round

Ending things off with a little bit of a throwback image to Mordred in her heyday, artistイセ川@こみトレ-カ28a really manages to have Mordred strike the perfect pose in this beautifully drawn and vibrantly colored piece.

The attention to detail is fantastic and the depiction of Mordred here really fits in with the confidence and haughtiness we know her character possesses. It’s a perfect way to finish up a list filled with absolutely amazing fan art.
