Marvel Comics isn't known for its speedsters. While it has characters like Quicksilver, Speed, Whizzer, and Speed Demon, they aren't as lauded for their speed compared to the likes of the Flashes, Kid Flashes, Zooms, and Reverse-Flashes of DC Comics. However, there are speedsters out there in the Marvel Universe, and they're powerful in their own right.

Sidekicks aren't as common in Marvel Comics compared to DC Comics either, but they're also out there. Many of them are young heroes or heroes-in-training banding together for the greater good. Speedsters and sidekicks may be less common in Marvel, but there are places the two overlap and make an engaging character.

10 Reptil Can Borrow Speed From The Most Ferocious Of Prehistoric Beasts

Reptil Fighting a T-Rex

Reptil, aka Humberto Lopez, has a Fossilized Amulet that allows him to either morph parts of or his whole body into a prehistoric creature. He largely uses this ability to morph into dinosaurs but has shown the ability to transform into other ancient animals too.

Reptil was part of the Avengers 50-State Initiative. He was enrolled and trained under Giant-Man in Avengers Academy after the Dark Reign of Norman Osborn. His morphing abilities allow Reptil to borrow speeds from the fastest dinosaurs such as the Velociraptor and Gallimimus.

9 Namorita Can Run And Swim Faster Than Almost Any Human

Namorita leaping into the air

Namorita is the clone of Namora and cousin of Namor the Submariner. She used to be a sidekick-like figure for Namor and later joined the New Warriors in the 1990s. She, along with most of the New Warriors team at the time, died at the Stamford Incident that preceded the Superhuman Civil War. She was succeeded, in a way, by Faira Sar Namora when she joined a later New Warriors incarnation.

Namorita and Faira Sar Namora are Atlanteans, meaning that they are already stronger and faster than normal human beings. However, they can reach incredible speeds while swimming, outpacing the vast majority of marine life and underwater vehicles.

8 Wild Child Is Frighteningly Fast When He Has A Target

Hellions Wild Child

Wild Child, aka Kyle Gibney, was orphaned after his genetic mutation left him with a bestial appearance. He was further mutated and turned into a weapon by Canada's Department H. Later on, he was captured by Weapon X and experimented upon and mutated even further, which turned him into a feral creature. He often fought Alpha Flight and Wolverine.

Since being killed and resurrected on Krakoa, Wild Child has fallen into a feral frenzy. He's been put on Krakoa's Hellions team, which is like a mutant Suicide Squad that aims to help treat and make use of their less-than-sociable mutants. Unfortunately, the oversight of Mister Sinister turned the Hellions into more of a pet project than something trying to cure mental illnesses. In any case, Wild Child can reach superhuman speeds when running; he just has to have prey to hunt down. Calling Kyle a sidekick is odd, but his need to have people watching over him has turned Wild Child into a de facto sidekick.

7 Speedball Has Access To An Entire Dimension Of Kinetic Energy

Speedball, a superhero with serious impulse issues.

Calling the New Warriors sidekicks in the modern day is strange too, but they started off as young heroes trying to make a difference in the world in a similar manner to the Teen Titans (a team largely composed of sidekicks). Speedball was always the upbeat and joking member of the team, and his powers have the potential to make him one of the fastest heroes in Marvel.

Robbie Baldwin can generate a kinetic cushion around himself that allows him to bounce off surfaces at increasing speeds. This turns him into something of a human projectile with no true ceiling in speed and impact power. He later gained the ability to turn this into an energy blast during his time as Penance.

6 Kid Gladiator Has Almost As Much Power And Speed As His Father

Kid Gladiator from Marvel Comics

Kid Gladiator is the son of Gladiator, head of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard and former Majestor of the Shi'ar Empire. Kid Gladiator and his father are Strontians, a race of ultra-powerful beings not too dissimilar from Kryptonians. The power of Strontians comes from their confidence, and Kid Gladiator is a very cocky kid.

Kallark dropped off his son, Kubark, with the Jean Grey School started by Wolverine. He was taught and trained by the X-Men, and he has been seen on Krakoa since its advent. He's not a proper mutant, but he is a super-powered being and the son of one of the X-Men's closest allies. He can fly well beyond the speed of sound, and it can only increase as he gets older and gains more confidence.

Slingshot

Slingshot, aka Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez, was a member of Nick Fury's Secret Warriors and an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. before its collapse. Slingshot is the daughter of the Griffin, and she was granted super-speed from his mutated DNA. Her super-speed comes at a cost, however, as Elena returns to her original point within a heartbeat of running. She's incredibly fast, but she can't go too far.

Unfortunately, Yo-Yo Rodriguez is seemingly deceased. She and other members of the Secret Warriors were killed by the Wrecker during a jailbreak. Slingshot started off on something of a team of superheroes in training under Nick Fury Sr., making her a sidekick of sorts.

4 Cannonball Is An Unstoppable Force Of Speed While Flying

Cannonball Using His Powers

Cannonball is a mutant who first rose to fame as part of the New Mutants team. Sam Guthrie has the ability to fly at incredible speeds and is functionally invulnerable while flying. He can increase and decrease his speed as needed, and the ceiling of this is uncertain.

Cannonball and his best friend, Sunspot, were also made Avengers for a time. It's here that Cannonball met Smasher, a human woman given incredible power as a member of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard. The two have since married and had a baby together. Cannonball's status as a sidekick is tentative at this point, but the New Mutants did start off as a training ground for future X-Men.

3 Lightspeed Can Break The Sound Barrier With Ease

Lightspeed flying through the air

Lightspeed first became a superhero as part of the Power Pack. The name of the team comes from Julie Power and her brother, Alex. This was a group of child heroes who have grown up over the years after being lost in time and space. Lightspeed herself joined up with the Avengers Academy for a time. She has since joined up with the Fantastic Four's Future Foundation under Dragon Man.

Julie Power can go well beyond the speed of sound, and the upper limits of her speed remain to be seen. She can also teleport as needed.

2 Speed Of The Young Avengers Is Marvel's Premiere Speedy Sidekick

Speed charging ahead of the Young Avengers

Many of the Young Avengers have grown into adulthood since their introduction, with Speed being among them. He is the reincarnation of Scarlet Witch's twin children alongside Wiccan. Tommy Shepherd inherited the powers of his uncle, Quicksilver.

Speed is one of the fastest beings in Marvel Comics. While he has yet to reach the speeds of Quicksilver, he's without a doubt faster than almost any other sidekick-like figure in the universe.

1 Nova Can Streak Across Space At Unfathomable Pace

Richard Rider and Sam Alexander as Nova bumping fists

There have been two Nova of note in Marvel Comics: Richard Rider and Sam Alexander. Both started off as young heroes who spent time cutting their teeth with the New Warriors. Richard Rider is a fully-formed hero in his own right at this point, while Sam Alexander is still learning how to become a great hero with the Champions.

The two met once Richard Rider returned from the Cancerverse, and Rich tried to help train Sam to become a great Nova Corpsman. The two can fly at impossible speeds, which earned Rich the nickname "the Human Rocket."
