The tenth entry in the blockbuster Fast & Furious series, Fast X, has a reported budget of $340 million, making it easily the most expensive film in the Vin Diesel-led action franchise. That would also make Fast X one of the most expensive films ever made, surpassing films such as Avengers: Infinity War, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and many more popular blockbusters. But a budget this high makes one wonder what this could mean for the franchise's penultimate installment.

Since 2001, the Fast & Furious franchise has been a staple of Hollywood cinema, becoming known more for its physics-defying action set pieces rather than the stripped-down street racing melodramas that the series began with. Each subsequent entry in the action-packed series ramped up the over-the-top car-related scenarios that Dominic Toretto's family gets themselves into, ranging from bank vault heists all the way to space travel. So, let's look at where the franchise could go next.

Fast & Furious Theories That Could Come True in Fast X

Many Fast & Furious fans have theorized how the series could possibly top F9's space set piece in terms of over-the-top ambition. Possible theories have included the introduction of extraterrestrials, dinosaurs and even time travel, all of which may seem a little far-fetched, even for this series. But with this large of a budget, it's not out of the question that one or more of these could come true, as the series is in need of a seemingly impossible obstacle for Dom and the crew to overcome.

New and Returning Fast & Furious Family Members

With Gal Gadot's Gisele reportedly returning to Fast & Furious, it's safe to assume that a portion of the $340 million budget could go into including both the new and returning members and all the high-speed antics that would go into an ensemble this large. With new additions such as Jason Momoa and Brie Larson already confirmed to be added to the cast, the Fast X will most likely be the most star-studded to date. Other possible returns to the series could include John Cena as Jakob Toretto and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw.

Another potential return -- and one that comes with behind-the-scenes drama -- would be Dwayne Johnson's super cop Luke Hobbs. The Johnson and Diesel feud has long been a point of contention within the franchise, but even a small cameo in Fast X could be a way to put this beef behind everyone. Johnson's return would be an exciting addition to the first part of the two-part Fast & Furious finale and a great way to bring as many of the series' most popular characters into one epic film.
