Fast and Furious 9 is set to finally release, continuing to propel the initially automotive-based series to new levels. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the franchise, which is now bigger than it's ever been. And this growth is planned to continue even as the franchise begins its race to the finish line.

Though the next two Fast & Furious movies will end the main series, there are still several spin-offs that will continue the fast-paced family legacy. Here are all of the planned sequels and side projects that are coming to the Fast and the Furious franchise in the coming years.

The series' main "Fast Sage" will come to a close with two final movies, though it's still unknown when these sequels will drop. The first of these, F10, was initially meant to come out April 21, 2021, but pushing back F9's release meant the same for its sequel's production. The tenth and eleventh movies will have a story that's split across them, similar to the last two Avengers movies. This will make both of them extremely pivotal, ending the saga on the extravagant note the series deserves.

Hobbs & Shaw 2

Hobbs and Shaw Poster

2020 didn't have a main entry in the franchise, but it did see the release of its first major spinoff movie, Hobbs & Shaw. This movie took the action away from Dom Toretto's iconic family and instead focused on smartmouthed lawman Luke Hobbs and cockney crook Deckard Shaw. The movie's success meant that a sequel was an inevitability, and the Rock confirmed that such a film was in the works back in 2020.

Unfortunately, it'll be a while before fans can see the unlikely duo team up again on the silver screen. This is namely due to the Rock and other stars' busy schedules, not to mention the fact that Hobbs & Shaw 2 still lacks a screenwriter and director.

The Fast & the Furious Female Spin-Off

For the last couple of years, a spinoff of The Fast & the Furious starring the franchise's many female stars has been a hotly speculated film. Vin Diesel first brought up the idea back in 2017, and a more fleshed-out pitch began to get off the ground two years later. This made it seem like a done deal, especially since the franchise has continued to expand with more entries. The female-led spin-off is rumored be based around Michelle Rodriguez's character Letty, essentially having her as the matriarch of the tentative female crew. Sadly, nothing concrete has been announced about the project, with even the cast unsure if it's truly coming.

Fast & Furious: Spy Racers

Before Hobbs & Shaw, though, the first real spin-off released of the franchise was Fast & Furious Spy Racers. This CGI animated series began airing on Netflix back in 2019 and has amassed four seasons so far. Produced by executives including Vin Diesel himself, the series involves Dom's cousin Tony Toretto is hired by the government to infiltrate and take down a criminal organization masquerading as a racing league.

Vin Diesel reprises his role as Dom in various appearances throughout the show, and the series as a whole has been a well-received revival of the franchise's initial street racing roots. Spy Racers just recently released its fourth season, which was centered around Mexico, and there's more to come for the surprising success story. According to Netflix itself, the series will drop around the middle of next April, which is consistent with the fourth season's release date.

Given the main movie's soon coming to an end and already being four seasons in, it's unknown how much longer Spy Racers will continue. Nevertheless, the Gary Scott Thompson and Justin Lin will keep going on for the time being to portray the increasingly extreme adventures of the Torretto family.

Directed by Justin Lin, F9 stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell and Charlize Theron. The film arrives in theaters June 25.
