Principal photography on Fast & Furious 9 is now facing an unforeseen delay in the wake of an incident on the set of the upcoming sequel.
An unidentified stuntman reportedly suffered a serious head injury on the set of the film in England, with the extent of the injuries and stuntman's current condition currently unknown. As a result, filming has come to a temporary stop for the day to focus on the situation.
The circumstances behind the injury are also unknown, including whether it was directly related to filming or simply an accident on set. The delay is not expected to affect the film's announced release date for next May.
Plot details of the ninth main installment in the high-octane Fast & Furious franchise are still currently under wraps but will feature longtime protagonist Dom Toretto leading the fast-driving crew while Jordana Brewster and Charlize Theron are both confirmed to return.
Fast & Furious 9 will be helmed by Justin Lin, who directed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth entries in the Fast & Furious franchise. Fast & Furious 9 is slated for a May 22, 2020 release.
