Fast Five Writer, Fan Film Helmer Commit Crime of the Century

Fast Five writer Chris Morgan, who's wrapped up in a two-year first-look deal with Universal Pictures, just sold a pitch to the studio for something called Crime of the Century. Deadline reports Morgan will produce the project, which will bring together 12 Rounds writer Dan Kunka and diector Dan Trachtenberg, who made a name for himself with the video game fan film Portal: No Escape.

The writer/director duo conceived the idea together as a science fiction-infused heist action flick. No story details are revealed, but I'm certainly game for Ocean's 11 in space. Morgan shepherded the project into Universal's loving arms, but he'll sit this one out with his producer's role, as he's busy writing his Fast Five follow-up.
