The next film in Universal's Fast and Furious series, titled F9, has been rescheduled again. It's now set to be released on May 28, 2021.

With MGM's latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die, having just been moved to F9's former date of April 2, F9 was accordingly given a new date of its own, as reported by THR.

Like many tentpole movies meant to hit theaters in 2020, F9 has seen multiple delays due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Early in the year, Universal was one of the first studios to change the date for a major film release, pushing F9 back an entire year into April of 2021.

Many other movies have been delayed since then, some of them by short increments which have stacked up due to further delays being required as the pandemic continues to shut down theaters and discourage audiences. The changing schedule often causes one film to take the slot which another had held, causing another shift in dates.

The full summary of F9 follows.

No matter how fast you are, no one outruns their past.

Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, next year’s The Suicide Squad).

F9 sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters of the series when it transformed into a global blockbuster. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tblisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.

Directed by Justin Lin, F9 stars Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang, with Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron and Cardi B. The film arrives in theaters May 28, 2021.
