Scott Eastwood is being welcomed back into the Fast Family with a role in Fast X, the tenth film in the franchise.

According to THR, the actor, who recently appeared opposite Jason Statham in Wrath of Man and in Amazon's ensemble comedy I Want You Back, has officially joined the cast of Fast X. Eastwood will reprise his role as Eric Reisner/Little Nobody in the upcoming tenth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. He first appeared as Little Nobody in 2017's The Fate of the Furious, working as a law enforcement agent under Kurt Russell's Mr. Nobody.

Eastwood's casting comes a week after Titans and Reacher star Alan Ritchson boarded the film as one of its villains. Other newcomers include Aquaman's Jason Momoa, Captain Marvel's Brie Larson and The Suicide Squad's Daniela Melchior. Vin Diesel, who portrays Dominic Torretto in the Fast and Furious franchise, previously teased the film's ensemble cast back in February. "We have great cast additions that are going to make this episode really, really, really exciting," he said at the time.

No plot details for Fast X have been revealed at this time. It is also unknown if Russell will be back as Mr. Nobody alongside Eastwood's Little Nobody in the film. Russell was introduced as Mr. Nobody in 2015's Furious 7 and briefly appeared in 2021's F9 aboard a plane that ended up crashing in an unknown location, leaving Mr. Nobody's fate ambiguous.

Justin Lin, who has helmed five previous films in the series, was originally set to direct Fast X but exited the production shortly after shooting had started. Although Universal claimed Lin left over creative differences, multiple industry insiders and sources close to the production of Fast X revealed that Lin left because he could no longer handle Diesel's behavior as a star and producer on the film. There had reportedly been animosity between the two for months, and it reached a breaking point on April 23 after a meeting between the two ended with a slammed door. "Justin finally had enough and said, 'This movie is not worth my mental health,'" a source said. The Incredible Hulk's Louis Leterrier signed on to replace Lin as director in May.

The returning cast of Fast X includes Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang and Michael Rooker. Though unconfirmed, John Cena and Cardi B are expected to return as well, reprising their F9 roles as Jakob Toretto and Leysa, respectively.

Fast X is currently shooting in London. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on May 19, 2023.
