Fans of Ubisoft's Far Cry franchise will get to watch a preview of the upcoming Far Cry 6's gameplay very soon. The game's Twitter page released a teaser trailer telling viewers to "RSVP for your first look at Far Cry 6 gameplay premiering May 28th at 9:30 AM PDT." Its accompanying video features a voiceover by the game's assumed antagonist El Presidente Anton Castillo (Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul's Giancarlo Esposito), leader of the island of Yara. Castillo's speech attempts to reassure his subjects in wake of the game's ongoing revolution.RELATED: Far Cry 3: Jason's Tattoo & the Tatau Skill Tree, Explained

"My true Yarans. This is my promise. While these fake Yarans may spread chaos, confusion and noise, I will be right here with you," Castillo proclaims over propagandistic images like newspaper headlines and his self-portrait. "To defend Yara we will sacrifice in the name of progress and we will rebuild paradise," he continues, only for Castillo's portrait to get graffitied over with blue devil horns.

Esposito's Far Cry 6 involvement was confirmed last July when Ubisoft unveiled the game's first cinematic trailer, which featured Castillo teaching his son Diego about the "costs" of ruling their people. Further story details for Far Cry 6 remain unknown, though players will control a Yaran revolutionary named Dani Rojas who will play a key role in the uprising against Castillo's tyrannical rule over the island.

Far Cry 6 was initially meant to launch in February 2021, but its release was delayed to an undesignated date before March 2022. Ubisoft cited "production delays" caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Far Cry 6 will mark the second Far Cry title developed by Ubisoft Toronto, who previously worked on the franchise's fifth mainline entry, Far Cry 5. Other upcoming Ubisoft titles include Roller Champions, Rainbow Six Quarantine and a remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. The company is also working on an open-world pirate game called Skull & Bones, which is currently set to release between 2022 and 2023.
