Video game developer and publisher Ubisoft has delayed the next entry in the Far Cry series past April 2021.In a statement regarding Ubisoft's fiscal year shared to Twitter by video game industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, the publisher confirms Far Cry 6  has lost its February 2021 release date. The game is now set launch sometime during the 2021 fiscal year, which means sometime after April 2021, but before March 2022. Ubisoft explains the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected the game's development cycle and has resulted in some some "production challenges." "Our teams around the world are working in the studios and from their homes to pour their passion and creativity into making an unforgettable game -- one we hope you will love."

Far Cry 6's initial release date was set for Feb. 18, 2021 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Far Cry 6 stars Emmy-nominated actor Giancarlo Esposito as El Presidente Anton Castillo, a dictator of a fictional Caribbean island named Yara. Gamers will play as Dani Rojas, who leads the fight for freedom from Castillo's rule of Yara.

Regardless of the setback, Ubisoft still has a full plate to serve to fans this holiday. Between now and February 2021, fans can look forward to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, Immortals: Fenyx Rising, new IP Riders Republic, among other games releasing on current and next-gen hardware.
