WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Fantastic Four: Road Trip #1 by Christopher Cantwell, Filpe Andrade, Chris O'Halloran & VC's Joe Caramagna, on sale now

Each of the Fantastic Four is capable of amazing feats with their incredible powers, with Franklin Richards even being considered one of the most powerful forces in the entire Marvel Universe -- at least while his powers are working. But the seemingly most underpowered of them all might quietly be the most impressive -- especially when they need to figure how to overcome impossible situations.

Valeria Richards just reminded the Fantastic Four just how brilliant she is in Fantastic Four: Road Trip, with her intelligence giving Franklin's reality-altering powers the chance to save the entire family from a horrifying demise.

Valeria Richards Fantastic Four

Valeria Richards is the daughter of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman. Unlike her older brother Franklin -- who was born with reality-altering abilities -- Valeria is nominally a regular human. However, she more than makes up for her lack of actual powers by being absolutely brilliant, rivaling her father in terms of intelligence despite her youth and inexperience. She's only become more impressive with time, as years spent traveling with the Future Foundation helped inspire her to new heights. The Fantastic Four have been saved in the past by her quick wit, and her intelligence just ended up being a major factor in the team surviving the events of Fantastic Four: Road Trip.

After being exposed to an irradiated rock by the Mad Thinker, the DNA of the Fantastic Four fell apart for all members of the family. For most of the team, this meant their powers went out of control as their bodies collapsed around them. Thing's rock plates fell off and Invisible Woman became invisible piece by piece. Valeria had no powers to degrade, which initially suggests she may be unaffected. But Valeria technically does have a power -- her phenomenal mind. This is what makes her potential fate so cruel, as her mind quickly reverts further and further back to infancy. She barely has time to realize that something is wrong before she loses the ability to speak. By the time her mother can get her back to the cabin the family had been staying at, Valeria has been trapped with the mind of an infant.

Luckily, she's able to mesh her body together with her brother -- and although it creates a horrifying sight, his reality-altering powers and their meshed DNA were able to restore them enough to save their entire family. With access to Valeria's intelligence, Franklin's reality-warping powers could be used to rebuild their bodies and fix their DNA strand by strand. By absorbing the rest of the Fantastic Four, Valeria and Franklin are able to save the team and give them the chance to bring the Mad Thinker to justice.

The Fantastic Four are capable of overcoming almost every threat, not just through the use of their powers but their brains as well. It usually comes down to their quick-thinking that allows them to survive the chaos that they often encounter throughout the Marvel Universe. With that in mind, Valeria might be the team's most vital member -- especially if her intelligence continues to grow as she gets older. Especially when she works with her brother, there's literally nothing she couldn't do.
