In the Fantastic Four's imminent future, Doctor Doom is getting married. While the identity of his bride remains elusive, it's almost certain that this wedding will result in some form of catastrophe. Of course, this is far from the Fantastic Four's first chaotic wedding.

Marvel's First Family celebrated their original wedding in Fantastic Four Annual #3, by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The marriage of Reed Richards and Sue Storm was long-awaited, drawing much publicity. A slew of Marvel's most famous characters were in attendance, including the Avengers and the X-Men. Nick Fury even worked the security detail. Despite the positive buzz of the wedding, not everyone was celebrating. Doctor Doom naturally hated how happy this wedding would make Reed, so he set out to sabotage the ceremony. Doom used his emotion charger to fan the flames of hatred within every Marvel villain nearby.

One by one, new threats emerged to attack the Fantastic Four before the wedding even started. Fortunately, with plenty of heroes on the guest list, this army of foes was held at bay. Eventually, however, these small skirmishes between heroes and villains erupted into an all-out brawl on the streets of New York.

Things became so desperate that Uatu, the Watcher arrived to help Reed save the day. The Watcher transported Mister Fantastic to his home, where he allowed Reed to pick out any device of his choosing. Reed returned to New York with a device that sent the villains back to where they were before the attack, erasing their memories of what happened. With the day won, Reed and Sue were married at last.

The pandemonium of this wedding truly speaks to who the Fantastic Four are as people. Marvel's First Family, as the World's Greatest Superheroes, tends to attract a lot of chaos. Reed and Sue couldn't even have a wedding without some kind of crazy attack from Doctor Doom and Marvel's other villains. Still, this also means that the Fantastic Four are well-equipped to tackle this problem and salvage a wedding from the madness. It helps that the Fantastic Four are friends with almost every hero in the Marvel Universe. The Fantastic Four are indeed Marvel's First Family, making them the focal point of Marvel's heroes. The most popular characters at the time all came to the Fantastic Four's aid, and they were also at the wedding simply to celebrate Sue and Reed. Their world may be crazy, but the Fantastic Four do have some amazing friends.

When The Thing married Alicia Masters, in Fantastic Four #5, by Dan Slott, Aaron Kuder, Michael Allred and Adam Hughes, they tried to avoid the same pitfalls of Reed and Sue's wedding. The ceremony was more intimate, with no heroes invited. Even so, Galactus threatened the planet in the middle of the wedding. Fortunately, Reed created a device that would stop time for four minutes, so Ben and Alicia could be married. Even when the Fantastic Four have a wedding with no interruptions, they have to go save the world immediately afterward.

Considering the Fantastic Four's tumultuous history with weddings, Doctor Doom's impending marriage does not bode well. The teaser image itself features several unnerving events, including the return of Cormorant, Doom's herald, Victorious, and the Thing appearing to strangle Reed. Kang and the Scarlet Centurion also loom above the teaser, two figures who do not bode well. With all of these hints in play, Doom's wedding could be the most hectic of all that the Fantastic Four have attended.

There also aren't as many heroes on hand who could assist the Fantastic Four at this wedding. Black Panther and Namor are the only heroes featured beside the Fantastic Four. Namor is also a morally dubious character, making him a lot less reliable. Whatever happens at Doom's Wedding, it's going to be difficult for the Fantastic Four to endure. It should be noted that Doom is the one who tried to sabotage Reed's wedding in the first place. With Doom at the center of this wedding, trouble is bound to ensue. Doom attracts trouble even more than the Fantastic Four, due to his nature as a villain. It's unclear exactly what will transpire, but Doctor Doom's wedding is likely to be an eventful one.
