WARNING: The following contains spoilers for King in Black #2, by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin, and VC's Clayton Cowles, on sale now.

With Knull reigning terror down upon Earth and his symbiote army conquering some of Earthtiest mightiest heroes, the remaining heroes need all the help they can get. However, not everyone was happy when Namor showed up.

As soon as Namor walked in and mocked the hero's efforts, Blade asked who invited him. One person knew exactly who called on Namor. There are only two people that Namor will typically answer a call from for assistance. Captain America has already fallen to Knull's symbiotes, leaving Susan Storm Richards, The Invisible Woman. Reed Richards knew instantly his wife called Namor in for help.

Namor has been around longer than almost any hero in the Marvel Universe. However, his re-introduction into Marvel Comics came in Fantastic Four #4 by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Sol Brodsky, Stan Goldberg & Artie Simek. In this issue, The Human Torch found a bearded homeless amnesiac man and chose to help him. He used his flame to shave his beard away and saw it was Namor. He dropped Namor into the water, and the former World War II hero regained his memories. The problem is he learned Atlantis had been destroyed due to the actions of humans through atomic testing.

Namor returned with a vengeance, but he met someone who helped convince him to give up his thirst for revenge against the surface dwellers. This was Sue Storm, The Invisible Girl. Namor was smitten immediately by Sue and offered to stop his attack if she would become his queen. While she accepted, she did it in a tone that indicated it was a sacrifice, causing Namor to leave. By issue #6, Sue and Namor admitted their feelings toward each other, and thus began the long and complicated relationship between The Sub Mariner and The Invisible Woman.

Sue even left Reed for Namor at one point. In Fantastic Four #147 by Gerry Conway, Rich Buckler, Joe Sinnott, Artie Simek & L. Lessmann, Sue served Reed with Divorce papers after shutting down Frankin's mind to stop his powers from getting out of control. After this, Sue left Reed for Namor, and he informed the Fantastic Four she was under his protection. While the FF thought he kidnapped her, Sue told them she loved him and remained with him. This was short-lived, and she soon returned to Reed. However, there was still something between Sue and Namor, as shown in Civil War, when she left Reed again after the death of Goliath.

Reed was not amused when he realized Sue had called in Namor to help in King in Black. While Sue knows she is right, and Namor is a valuable ally in this war, Reed remembers the past and all the times Namor has come in between his relationship with his wife. It also doesn't help that Sue has been hiding things from Reed, including working undercover for Nick Fury behind his back, which was recently revealed to her husband. Reed and Sue have a complicated relationship, and neither is ever completely honest with each other. However, Sue and Namor also have a complicated relationship, and it always seems to creep up when Reed expects it the least.
