WARNING: The following contains spoilers from Fantastic Four #22, by Dan Slott, Paco Medina, Sean Izaakse, Marcio Menyz, Jesus Aburtov and VC's Joe Caramagna, on sale now.

Marvel's latest crossover event, Empyre, is taking over the publisher's various titles. In the main series, the plant-like aliens known as the Cotati have begun an invasion of Earth, and they have made Wakanda their primary target while, in space, a Kree/Skrull alliance is getting ready to destroy the Sun to stop the Cotati. The core Fantastic Four team is currently busy helping the Avengers stop the invasion on Earth. But elsewhere, two other members of Marvel's first family of superheroes are also involved in the event in their own way.

In Fantastic Four #21, Franklin and Valeria Richards were both tasked by their father to protect the two newest members of their expanding family: Jo-Venn and N'Kalla. However, the hate between the young Kree and Skrull got the attention of the Cotati's fearsome order, the Dark Harvest.

Franklin and Valeria called for help and Spider-Man and Wolverine showed up. And now, the two superheroes get brand new costumes for the war.

In Fantastic Four #22, Franklin, Valeria, Spider-Man and Wolverine are under attack from the Dark Harvest. The Cotati's enforcers are after both Jo-Venn and N'Kalla, because they both possess knowledge about their respective races that could prove instrumental in winning the war. All four superheroes, as well as the Human Torch's soulmate Sky and Alicia Masters, hold off the invaders, but unfortunately, they prove to be too powerful. The villains are able to get their hands on Jo-Venn, and they then depart, leaving Spider-Man, Wolverine and the rest of the Fantastic Four clan defeated.

However, they are not out of the fight for long. Soon, Franklin and Valeria get a call from their father, who's looking for an update on Jo-Venn and N'Kalla. After they explain everything that happened, Reed confirms that the rest of the family can't help -- but that doesn't mean the four of them are done. Reed gives them a pep talk and tells them they have everything they need to become the Fantastic Four while they are away. Upon his command, Richards' fabricator then reveals new Fantastic Four-inspired costumes for both Wolverine and Spider-Man.

Spider-Man and Wolverine now both have a black and blue costume to match with the rest of the Fantastic Four, and they have their own respective logos on their chest: Peter has his spider insignia, while Logan's suit features the new "X" symbol of the "Dawn of X" era. Plus, Franklin and Val both get a Fantastic Four logo to replace their current "V" and "F" plates.

These costumes originally appeared on the cover of the previous issue, Fantastic Four #21. But while both Spider-Man and Wolverine didn't wear these FF-inspired outfits in the issue itself, the costumes make their in-universe debut at the end of issue #22. Now, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Franklin and Valeria have formed the second Fantastic Four team. And they're not the only ones who will get a new costume before the event is done: Tony Stark is also building a Fantastic Four Iron Man suit, hinting the team is about to get much bigger.

Fantastic Four #22 is on sale now.
