Can’t get enough Doctor Doom? Well, if you think you’ll like Julian McMahon as everybody’s favorite Latverian, Comics Continuum has news that you’ll enjoy. “Julian McMahon, who is playing Doctor Doom in the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ movie, said he is contracted for a sequel. ‘I’m signed on to do the sequel, but I really have to be honest with you, the way that I would look at it if I was Fox and those guys, it depends on how well Von Doom is received and how well you could fit him back in again,’ McMahon said. ‘It if works storyline-wise and if the audience liked him, I’d say they should bring him back. It would be a no-brainer. But if they feel like you kind of have done Von Doom and they need to bring in someone else, I can understand that as well. But we’ll see.'” They also note a slight plot spoiler about the good Doctor, and have a rundown of all of Marvel’s TV and movie plans for the next few years.
Eddie Mishan emailed us about a new image gallery of visions from the Christopher Nolan-helmed Bat-flick. What’s with that guy’s head? Yowza.
Superhero Hype keeps getting more leaks than a paper bucket from the Melbourne set. Their Aussie agent wrote, “After leaving the set on Thursday night, from what I thought was simply going to be a night of exterior shots, turned into two of the cast turning up to do some filming! Who were they? Why, only Nicolas Cage and Donal Logue! And they turned up a mere 1/2 an hour after I’d left. Again! Argh!!! Not too happy, but still quite pleased to hear Donal’s in the country. My co-worker said he stayed from 9-11pm and saw Nicolas Cage in a cowboy hat and long black jacket, handling a duffel bag. In another scene he and Donal walked towards the camera with Donal wheeling the stuntcycle. Sounded pretty cool to me, and I’m pleased to hear about the cowboy hat.”
Our friends at Kryptonsite have the schedule for the rest of the season, showing five straight weeks of reruns ahead (argh).

We received an email from Ford Gilmore pointing us to this article in Variety (subscription required) about a comic creator writing and directing an original film of his own creation that never had a previous life in comics, writing and directing it and getting paid real money to do so. “The “Saw” team of Twisted Pictures and Lions Gate Films will produce
“Catacombs,” the first title under the companies’ nine-pic financing and
distribution deal. Shannyn Sossamon and Alecia Moore (aka pop singer Pink) will star in the story of a young woman on her first visit abroad. She goes to a party in the Catacombs, a 200-mile labyrinth of ancient limestone tunnels under Paris lined with the remains of 7 million people. When separated from her friends, she becomes convinced that someone or something is chasing her. Pic was written and will be directed by David Elliot and Tomm Coker. Production begins Monday in Bucharest.” The article also notes that Elliot has been tapped to adapt “G.I. Joe” for Paramount.
Toon Zone has an update with cover shots for the DVD releases of the hit animated series. “The Batman: Training For Power – Season 1, Vol. 1” will arrive in stores on May 24, 2005.
