Marvel Comics is set to introduce a brand new character in a story involving the Fantastic Four, Guardians of the Galaxy and the Silver Surfer. Writer Peter David and artist Francesco Manna will debut this new character in July's Fantastic Four: Prodigal Sun #1.

The story finds the mysterious Prodigal land in the Savage Land where he's treated like a god by the native barbarians. However, things take a turn for the worse when those barbarians make a move to take over the world, forcing Marvel's First Family to step in.

Fantastic Four: Prodigal Sun will be followed by two additional one-shots: Guardians of the Galaxy: Prodigal Sun and Silver Surfer: Prodigal Sun. At this time it's unknown whether Peter David and Francesco Manna will be the creative team for Guardians of the Galaxy: Prodigal Sun and Silver Surfer: Prodigal Sun, or if other creators will be brought on. Fantastic Four: Prodigal Sun #1 will have a cover by artist Mico Suayan.

This is the third announcement Marvel has made involving plans for the Fantastic Four in July. Along with a throwdown between The Thing and the Immortal Hulk, the publisher teased the return of the Future Foundation, and an Invisible Woman miniseries following Sue Storm's adventures as an Agent of SHIELD.

Written by Peter David and illustrated by Francesco Manna with a cover by Mico Suayan, Fantastic Four: Prodigal Sun #1 arrives in July from Marvel Comics.
