Marvel Cinematic Universe fans want to see Adam Driver play the new Doctor Doom in Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot.Following rumors concerning the Star Wars actor's meeting with Marvel execs about an undisclosed role in the highly-anticipated film, MCU fans swarmed on social media to voice their support for Driver as the iconic Marvel supervillain. Much of the fans' approval of Driver is based on his critically-acclaimed performance as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and they can see the actor don Victor Von Doom's iron mask.RELATED: The Fantastic Four Would Work Better as a TV Series Than a Movie

Doctor Doom has made several live-action appearances. He was first portrayed by Joseph Culp in Roger Corman's unreleased Fantastic Four movie in 1994 which was made on a shoestring budget for producer Bernd Eichinger to hold onto the film rights for Marvel's first family. Nip/Tuck actor Julian McMahon played Doom in Fox's critically mixed Fantastic Four in 2005 and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007. Lastly, Rise of the Planet of the Apes actor Toby Kebbell played Doom as an anti-social computer expert in Josh Trank's infamous 2015 reboot.

In 2017, Legion showrunner Noah Hawley announced he was developing a Doctor Doom solo movie at Fox unrelated to any previous Fantastic Four incarnation. Despite a completed script, the project stalled in 2019 after the Walt Disney Company acquired Fox. Hawley continued to express interest in adapting the script if Marvel Studios ever reached out to him. "The phone hasn’t rung," Hawley said. "I love the script and what I did with it. Marvel seems to have a plan for everything, it would be great if I fell into that plan."

Who Could Join the Fantastic Four?

While Marvel Studios has not confirmed talks with Driver about Fantastic Four, casting rumors have been rampant since WandaVision director Matt Shakman took over the MCU reboot from Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts.

MCU fans are still interested in John Krasinski reprising his Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Other popular fan-casting choices include You's Penn Badgley, It's Always Sunny's Glenn Howerton and, following reports of discussions, Lucifer's Tom Ellis. As for Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, names include Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Rachel Brosnahan.

Directed by Shakman and written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, Fantastic Four hits theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
