WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Fantastic Four #27 by Dan Slott, R.B. Silva, Juanan Ramirez, Ze Carlos, Chris O'Halloran & VC's Joe Caramagna, on sale now.

The Fantastic Four are traditionally based in the Baxter Building but have been away from their main HQ in recent years. Their latest home, #4 Yancy Street, was a modern and interesting adjustment for the family. But now, they're going to have to go back to the housing market.

During their battle with the Griever, the Fantastic Four are forced to sacrifice their current home on Yancy Street.

Since returning from their multiversal excursions and discovering the Baxter Building was owned by others, the Richards family has been living at #4 Yancy Street. As the former home of Ben Grimm, the neighborhood quickly accepted the Fantastic Four into their neighborhood. Although on the exterior the building appeared to just be another brownstone, Reed soon tinkered with the dimensional weight and size of #4 Yancy Street. This resulted in multiple additional floors and rooms throughout the building, even harnassing pocket dimensions for additional space. This all allowed the team to have the necessary space for all their equipment while still providing a surprisingly homey atmosphere for Reed and his loved ones.

But things quickly transpire in Fantastic Four that leaves the team without their home, once again. Despite the massive scale of the building's interior, Reed isn't sure at first if it'll be able to accommodate all the interdimensional refugees that flee the Griever to Earth. Although they quickly open their doors to the legions of aliens, it's not long before the Griever and her armies follow suit, coming through the Forever Gate and into New York. Ignoring the Thing and Dragon-Man, Griever quickly makes her way through the city to reach Yancy Street, hunting down Franklin Richards so she can kill him while his reality-altering powers are depleted.

But thanks to the Iron Man suit gifted to him by his father, Franklin is able to stay ahead of Griever and lure her into the heart of the building. While everyone else evacuates, the Griever tears apart #4 Yancy Street while trying to reach Franklin. Even when she does catch him, it turns out he was only remote-piloting the suit as a distraction. With everyone out of the building except for her, Reed deletes the pocket dimensions -- folding the building on top of itself. Although this does initially seem to stop the Griever, it also destroys every personal belonging, piece of equipment, and unique object within #4 Yancy Street. This even includes Franklin's new Iron Man armor, which he expresses some regret about.

It's a sudden loss to the base of operations, which the Fantastic Four have only had for a relatively short amount of time. They can't even retreat back to the Baxter Building, as that was recently destroyed too. It turns out this sacrifice wasn't even worth the effort, as the Griever proves more than powerful enough to rip her way back through the collapsed dimensions, meaning her threat hasn't been reduced in the slightest. If anything, she's even more furious with the Fantastic Four than she was before, announcing that now she considers the battle to be very personal. It'll be interesting to see where the Fantastic Four go from here, and how difficult it is for them to build their lives back up from the ground all over again.
