A recent post on social media from actor Antonio Banderas fuels speculation regarding the cast for Marvel Studios' upcoming Fantastic Four film.Across his channels, Banderas shared clips and photos from the set of a project. While the actor did not specify which project it is, he wrote, "Here I am in the strange and a little exhausting process of building an exact copy of my face for a movie." Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have responded all over the comments, speculating that he is working on Fantastic Four.RELATED: An MCU Theory Offers the Perfect Fantastic Four Villain

The post follows rumors that surfaced in April, suggesting Banderas is being eyed to play the supervillain known as the planet-devouring celestial known as Galactus. The rumor, in turn, followed rumors suggesting Fantastic Four will feature both Galactus and his herald, the Silver Surfer. It should be noted that none of these details have been officially confirmed.

A Wave of Fantastic Four Rumors

Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four has been the subject of a multitude of rumors, with many surfacing in the last few months. Many center on the casting of the titular superhero team. The most prominent of the names being suggesting include Adam Driver as Reed Richards and Margot Robbie as Sue Storm. In addition, names such as Paul Mescal have been floated for Johnny Storm and Daveed Diggs as Ben Grimm. As mentioned, none of these have been officially confirmed.

A number of A-list actors have been mentioned in rumors and reports, not all of which are being suggested to be involved in the film. A recent report suggested actor Emma Stone was offered the role of the Invisible Woman, but turned it down because Marvel Studios was unable to offer a satisfactory salary.

While the team has not appeared in full in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one of its members has. Actor John Krasinski made his one and seemingly only appearance as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as a member of the Illuminati. While there was mention of his family, the rest of the Fantastic Four did not appear. Krasinski previously spoke on the possibility of returning as the iconic character, explaining that he has had no conversations with Marvel Studios since the Doctor Strange sequel, adding, "I’m a big fan of all those characters and that world, so to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill."

Fantastic Four is set to open in theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
