A new Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore trailer is on its way.Albus Dumbledore actor Jude Law took part in a short video encouraging Wizarding World fans to show off anything and everything related to Dumbledore in anticipation of a new trailer arriving on Thursday, Feb. 24 at an unspecified time.
The Fantastic Beasts film series launched in 2016 with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a prequel to the core Harry Potter films. It was followed by The Crimes of Grindelwald in 2018, and The Secrets of Dumbledore is set for release in April. This time, however, the evil Gellert Grindelwald will be played by Mads Mikkelsen instead of Johnny Depp.
"Firstly, I'd like to thank everybody who has gifted me with their support and loyalty. I have been humbled and moved by your many messages of love and concern, particularly over the last few days," Depp wrote in November 2020 when he was asked to step down from The Secrets of Dumbledore in light of his very public and very messy divorce with Amber Heard. "Secondly, I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request. Finally, I wish to say this. The surreal judgment of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time."
Mikkelsen was soon brought on board as Depp's replacement. "I mean, obviously, they were going to do the film, and obviously [Depp] was not involved any more," he said in June 2021. "But I didn't have a dog in that fight. And I don't know what happened [in his private life], and I don't know if it was fair, him losing the job, but I just knew that the show was going on, and I would've loved to have talked to him about it if I had the chance, but I just don't know him in that sense."
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore arrives in theaters April 15.
